Frank E. Jalowiecki

May 7, 1941 ~ May 8, 2013
Frank E. Jalowiecki, 72, of Denver, passed away May 8, 2013. He was born May 7, 1941, in Chicago, to the late Frank and Mary Jalowiecki. He served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hamilton, N.Y. He served a tour of duty in Germany from June 12, 1959, through May 25, 1962, and he remained in the Army Reserves until May 1965, when he was honorably discharged. Nearly 47 years ago, his sister Ginny introduced him to the love of his life, Carol Winiarski. They worked together at the Scott Foresman publishing company and, at the same time, Frank also worked with Carol's dad at a machine shop. The two were married on June 25, 1966, and started their life together in Chicago, gradually moving West until they ended up in Denver in 1981. Frank was sarcastic, witty and fun. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was passionate about his family, lake fishing, horticulture and drinking Manhattans with his friends. He loved to invent weird drink concoctions, his favorite being a mixture of beer and root beer. He was the king of Ping-Pong before beer pong was invented and he loved to argue about politics. An avid sports fan, he loved watching the Broncos, Rockies and Chicago Cubs. When watching the Broncos, he sat with a stuffed Denver Bronco. When the team was winning, the animal would face the television but, if they were losing, he would flash his hindquarters at the screen. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Kasey. He is survived by his wife, Carol; three children, Ellen Masella, Peter Jalowiecki and Janet Spike and her husband Mitch; three grandsons, Jameson, Korey and Myles; brother Ron Jalowiecki; sisters Virginia Greene, Christine Cramer, Barbara Hopp and Jane Hinich. The family would like to thank several people who have helped Frank including Dr. Timothy Poate and Lori at Front Range Medical Center, Dr. James Ellis at National Jewish Medical Center, Susan Foster, RN, Julie Winkel, social worker and Moe, CNA at The Denver Hospice Home Care, all the Doctors, Nurses, CNAs and other support staff at The Denver Hospice Care Center, Frank Holligan, the Eucharistic Minister at Notre Dame. And to all those who have touched Frank's life. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Denver Hospice or Angel Eyes, formerly Colorado SIDS. These donations may be made through www.storkfamilymortuary.com. A viewing will begin at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Parish, 2190 S.
