Florian "Flo" Leonard Rendon

florian

Florian “Flo” Rendon, born in Longmont, CO, on March 22, 1941, went home to His Lord on September 25, 2021, at the age of 80, in Westminster, CO. He was funny and stubborn to the end—making faces at people as they came in, arguing with caregivers, and repeatedly saying “no” to everything—before losing a short battle to serious health issues.

Well before child labor laws were a thing, Flo’s dad put him and his brothers to work playing and singing in local clubs. Flo had a real gift for singing and playing the guitar. He also loved to write songs. In high school, he showed an aptitude for sports, especially basketball. Later, he took up bowling and ultimately ended up traveling in the amateur circuit and gaining some renown, eventually owning Rainbow Lanes bowling alley in Westminster. His passion for music remained, and he continued playing with his brother Kenny as the Rendon Brothers, in local Denver clubs, and even traveling to Las Vegas in the 70’s to play at the Stardust. In the 80s, he traveled and played with Glenn Yarbrough. Flo loved being on the road, seeing new places, collecting playing cards, and writing letters home to his kids.

Flo is preceded in death by his father, J. Benny Rendon, his mom, Hope Blazon and brothers, Frank Rendon, Kenny Rendon and Albert “Sonny” Casias. He is survived by his sister Venita (Kenny) Ruybal; his nine children: Rick (Donna) Rendon, Rob (Chris) Rendon, Danielle (Dennis) Caveny, Rachelle Rendon, Alexa Peterson, Zanna Peterson, Nick (Kathy) Sours, Brittani (Greg) Edds, and Tanishya Sours; nine grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Inurnment service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery following the reception.
