Mom was an amazing person. She was kind and truly helpful to people. She had a very strong faith in God and because of that faith she always tried to be a blessing - not just to her own family but to everyone she came in contact with. Even though she grew up in the depression, she says her family never lacked for anything because both her parents worked so hard on the farm. They made everything themselves; did everything themselves. Mom was proud of the fact she had received a teaching certificate from Fort Hays, Kansas State Teachers College. Her first teaching assignment was in a one-room school house. She later taught kindergarten at Trinity Lutheran School and Church in Amarillo, Texas. Later she became a dental assistant after moving to Colorado Springs. She later moved to Lakewood, where she owned and operated her own donut shop. That was how Ken and Ferma met - as business owners running businesses in the same shopette. She worked with Ken to build their own business and worked for years doing the books for the business. Ferma was such a smart person.
Mom took a lot of pride in her family. She showed us unconditional love and support. She left a beautiful legacy that runs deep in her children and grandchildren. Our lives were better with her in it. Words cannot adequately express the loss that is felt with her passing.
We will celebrate her life and say our farewells on December 7, 2017 at 10am. The location is Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 920 Kipling St, Lakewood Colorado 80215. Please join us in wishing her Godspeed.
