May 22, 1936 ~ September 3, 2025

Born in: Denver, Colorado
Resided in: Lakewood, Colorado

Evelyn was born on May 22, 1936 to Joseph A. and Katherine E. Mattingley in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in a large family with 9 brothers and sisters. She grew up helping to care for her younger siblings while her parents worked hard to make ends meet and keep the family fed.

Evelyn graduated from Arvada High School in 1955 and married the love of her life, Harold J. Jones on June 7, 1956. After Harold’s 2 year stint in the service, they came home to Denver and started their family in 1959.

Evelyn’s primary job, hobby, career and greatest pleasure came from taking care of her family, though she also worked outside the home for many years. She and Harold worked hard to make a beautiful home and raise their family of 4 kids, Russell (Christin), Gail Brooks (Tony), Sharon Coleman (Tim), and Connie Knott (Kevin). Their care, love, and devotion to family was unquestionable. Later on, they enjoyed dancing and socializing at the American Legion and Elks, making many new friends. They spent their time on home improvements and yard projects, as well as helping their kids and spending time with family and grandkids, whom they loved dearly.

Evelyn passed away on September 3, 2025 after a long and hard fight with Alzheimers. She fought hard and never gave up, her resolve and toughness always shining through. She is survived by her children, Russ (Christin), Gail (Tony), Sharon (Tim), and Connie (Kevin), as well as 6 grandchildren, Cody(Cole), Kalvin(Danielle), Daniele, Aidan, Dalton and Peter, as well as 4 sisters and 1 brother.

  1. To Our Sweet, Darling Sister,

You were the glue that held our family together. You were the one we could count on when we needed advice or just someone to talk to. A fun thing I’ve can say about you and get a good laugh is if someone made you angry you never got mad or even raised your voice, you could put them in their place with just one sentence. You raised four beautiful children who stood by you to the end and we are so very thankful for that and them. Ourfondest memory is the one Mabel secret we shared together, we can laugh ourselves all the way to heaven with that. We all love you a bushel and a peck. Those were the last words you uttered to Cleo and I. We will carry that song in our hearts forever. Sweet sister, we love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. Our love Cleo, Jolene and Don ❤️❤️❤️
