Esther Arredondo Herold

esther herold

It is with great sadness that the family of Esther Arredondo Herold announce her passing.

Born on November 30, 1951 in San Pedro, California to Alex Z. Arredondo and Bertha Ayala Arredondo.

Entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2012 in Denver, Colorado due to heart and lung complications created by a long struggle with lupus.

Esther attended San Pedro High School, where she was involved in many clubs including the softball and badminton team. Voted by her class as "most likely to succeed."

She was awarded the annual academic scholarship by the San Pedro Chapter of Business and Professional Women's Club, allowing Esther to attend UCLA for the first three years of college.  She received her BA in Mathematics from the University of Wyoming and went on to receive her Masters in Computer Science from University of Denver.

Her career most notably included a position with Gulf (Chevron) as a geophysical technician and a computer programmer for Qwest (CenturyLink).  In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her family and pets, watching football, classic films, and singing along with musicals. She had a strong belief in her children, and encouraged of them to pursue their individual interests. Over the past decade she had become very passionate about researching genealogy, and was a dedicated member of the local Hispanic genealogy society.

Lovingly remembered by her husband, James P.; her four children, Josh, Kirsten (Greg Phelan), Rachael, and Joel (all of Colorado); her siblings, Susan, Arthur, Helen (Jon Chernow), and Martha (all of California); Father-in-law, James H. (Jean Herold) (Wyoming); sisters-in-law Angela (Pete Chimney) (Texas), Rita (Walter Nixon) (Montana), and Pam (Hank Herold) (California); cousins, nieces, nephews and her two dogs, Clarabelle and Roxie.

May she rest in peace with her parents, Alex and Bertha; mother-in-law, Verna; brother-in-law, Hank; and sisters-in-law Brigid and Shannon; and beloved pets, Cisco and Maren.

  1. My condolences to the family. Esther was a friend when we were undergrads at UCLA and lived at Twin Pines woman's coop. She has remained in my thought and was saddened to her of her death when I searched for her. RIP

  2. I am so sorry to read about this. i worked with Esther at US West – she was so smart and kind. For some reason she entered my mind today, so i googled her. May she be in peace
