Elly Schaefer

Elly Schaefer passed away on 30 September, at the age of 85, in Centennial Colorado, after a long decline from Alzheimer's Disease.  She was born in California in 1929.  She lived in Redwood City, until enrolling in UCLA as a geography major.  She then transferred to Ohio State for the last two years of college, joined the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and graduated.  At Ohio State, she met Ralph Edward Schaefer and married him.  The couple had two children, Kim, and Brad.  They lived variously in Akron Ohio, Canton Ohio, Albuquerque New Mexico, Las Cruces New Mexico, and Pueblo Colorado, before settling down in Littleton.  Elly was a long time volunteer helper at the Swedish Medical Center, a long serving docent for the Denver Art Museum, and she did pricing for many years with the DU Book Sale.  Ralph died in 1990.  From the early-1990s until 2006, Elly became a world traveller, visiting over 120 nations, and for two consecutive years in a row, visited all seven continents.  She was living at Holly Creek when she passed away, and is survived only by Kim and Bradley.  A memorial service was held at Holly Creek at 2:00 PM on Friday 3 October.

  1. I was very lucky that both Mom and Dad were good parents.  Mom had a good life; with a nice marriage, comfortable circumstances, and wonderful adventures traveling.  I will miss her.
