Elizabeth "Beth" Hittle

Elizabeth “Beth” Hittle (nee Anderson), who lived in Lakewood, died August 19 after a brief
illness. Family and friends were in attendance. She was 75 years old. She grew up in
Champaign/Urbana Illinois, and attended Urbana High School, before going to Carleton
College. She married David Hittle, who was also an Urbana resident, in 1971, and moved
with him to Bloomington, Indiana. They later moved to Colorado, where Beth earned an
M.S. in accounting, and worked as an internal auditor for the state of Colorado, NREL, and
School of Mines. She later worked as a professional accountant for a national accounting
firm. Beth and David enjoyed outdoor activities, including camping, backpacking, and
cross-country skiing, as well as spending time at their cabin near Breckenridge.
Beth and David had two sons, Paul and Nathan, and two grandchildren. Beth was active in
supporting the children’s experience in school and encouraging their interests in programs
with the Museum of Natural History and the Denver Zoo, as well as Scouting (particularly
Nathan). A celebration of Beth’s life, for family and close friends, will be held in
Breckenridge in September.
