Eleanor Jeanne Shearer-Luft
March 9, 1935 ~ September 28, 2018
Ellie, 83, escaped from Parkinson's and dementia on September 28 and is now at peace. She was born March 9, 1935 in Natrona Heights, PA, to Paul Jones and Matilda (Kennedy) Jones (both deceased), as is her brother Bud. Married 1955 to Donald Shearer (Later amicably divorced); Sons Donald Jr., Brian and Todd (All of Colo.), granddaughters Tiffany and Barbara, and several great-grandchildren. Graduated with high honors from Tarentum HS in 1951 then went on to secretarial school in Pittsburgh. They moved permanently to Colorado in 1971. She was a bookkeeper, ending up as comptroller for engineering firm Barber-Nichols in Jefferson Co.
Eleanor met freshly retired widower and geologist Stanley Luft in September 1988 and they were married August 1991, embarking upon numerous wonderful and sometimes even exciting journeys all over Europe, North Africa, and the Americas. A lover of country music, she soon added Stan's appreciation for opera, and never lost the appeal of chocolate. Always with a smile on her face, even in her final days, Ellie was loved by all who knew her. She has a host of great friends, but Susan Bartlett Hougas remained her best. A memorial service for Eleanor will be be held on October 27 of this year, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Arbor House, 14600 West 32nd Avenue, Golden, CO.
We greatly appreciate the terminal assistance and care she received from Suncrest Hospice of Greenwood Village. She was cremated. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Colorado Coalition for the Homeless or to a charity of your choice.
