Edythe Margaret McFarland, an American Original, died in Denver, Colorado on February 19, 2014 . She was 95 years young. Born in Somerset, Colorado on February 15, 1919 to parents Tony Bear and Virginia Marta Bear. Edythe was married to Harry Frank McFarland. Survived by children Alan Schumacher, Harry McFarland, Nela Lewis, Nanette Meredith, Anita McFarland, Myles McFarland and Denice McFarland-Block. Grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 8. Predeceased by daughter Carol Breen (December 26, 2008) and siblings James Bear (July 8, 1997), Charles Bear (May 29, 2003), William Bear (January 21, 2010). Ashes will rest in the Ragged Mountains, Colorado. She lived her life with humility and kindness and a bit of brutal honesty. Constant world traveler, devoted mother, innkeeper, environmentalist and nurturer, she is deeply missed and respected by many. Living life on her terms, she was a remarkable woman in a class of her own. =
