Edward John Hanggi
June 19, 1923 ~ June 17, 2012
Edward John Hanggi was born on June 19, 1923 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Anna (Sasser) Hanggi. He passed away on June 17, 2012 in Lakewood, Colorado. Ed was the youngest of four children and grew up in St. Paul. He was a good athlete and played football in high school when his team won the state tournament and he was voted All Conference.
In 1943 he enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years. Following his military service, he worked for the Great Northern Railroad as a passenger representative and had an opportunity to travel across the country.
Ed married Helen Jacobson in April 1950 and lived in Detroit for several years where their son, Tom, was born. The family moved to Englewood, Colorado in 1963 where Ed was the owner of Rusco Windows & Doors. He retired in 1985 and enjoyed this time with his family, gardening, painting and golfing. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Englewood for over 30 years.
He was a loving husband to Helen, who passed away in 1997, and a wonderful father to Tom and grandfather to Ellen and Evan Hanggi. He had the opportunity to see his grandchildren grow up and took an active interest in their lives and activities.
A good, kind and generous man, he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
