She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Houtkooper who she married in April of 1954. They met In Denver during his recovery at Fitzimmons Army hospital.

She shared fond memories with her grandchildren of growing up in Alamosa and particularly Rehobeth New, Mexico. She is survived by her three children  Michael, Kimberly and Todd. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I have fond memories of when, as a young serviceman, Ken and Edna took me into their home and treated me as family.  I believe I spent every weekend at their house on Emerson Street while I was stationed in Denver. I met my wife because Edna insisted that I ask a girl to go to the movies with them. They helped to shape my future. Mike, Kim and Todd, our deepest sympathies to you and your children as you mourn the loss of Mom and Grandma. Our prayer is that you will take comfort in the sure hope of salvation that we have in Jesus.

  2. Edna served our church family in many capacities over the years. Although she was home bound for a season, she cared for her neighbors and prayed over them. During visits, Edna gave testimony to her faith in Jesus Christ. She let us know when she needed a touch of care from her faith family, and reminded us how important caring ministry is to those without the ability to travel. Her joy is complete…Rebecca S.
