E. Robert "Bob" Niekerk of Denver. Preceded in death by wife Lillian. Father of Barbara Meyer and Darwin Niekerk. Grandfather of Jeremy, Nathan, Stephanie, Allison and Katie. Great Grandfather of Levi, Ella and Nicolas. Bob served our country during World War II as an Army radio intelligence operator and participated in four beachhead landings in Africa and Italy. He also served with the Army Security Agency (an early part of the NSA), monitoring communications between Axis governments, before returning to Denver to raise a family and enjoy a successful career as a typographer. He was an avid gardner, enjoyed golf and bowling, and loved to fish and spend time outdoors in the mountains of the state he loved, Colorado. He faithfully served the Christian Reformed Church, Denver Christian Schools, and Clermont Park Retirement Community. He will long be remembered for his kindness, compassion, patience, and sociability. Memorial service Friday 1:30 p.m. at Clermont Park Fellowship Hall (2479 S. Clermont St.).
