dottie jeltema

Dorothy “Dottie” Jeltema was born November 2, 1922 in Denver, Colorado. Dottie was the oldest of three children, born to John and Hilda Pasterkamp. Siblings, Dick Pasterkamp and Evelyn Ponstein preceded her in death.
Growing up in a close-knit Dutch part of Denver, she attended Denver Christian elementary school and South High School. It was through their church youth group that she met and later married Don Jeltema. Throughout their marriage they were faithful members of the Christian Reformed Church.
Dottie was a stay at home mother in addition to playing an integral part as bookkeeper for Jeltema Construction Inc. She and Don were married for 52 years until he died in 1996.
They raised three daughters, Gayle (Dean) Arkema, Donna (deceased in 2015) Marv Schra and Gwen (Doug) Boonstra. She is survived by her nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Dottie lived her last eight years in the Christian Living Center at Someren Glenn. Dottie was an inspiration to the staff and many residents with her generous smile, sweetness and thankful heart.
Dottie entered her eternal home on September 19, 2018. She is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Guestbook

  1. When I think of Dottie I am reminded of the Proverbs 31 woman: "Strength and honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness." Pv. 31: 25,26  It has been an honor and blessing to have been encouraged and loved so well by a sister in Christ. Dottie will be missed by our entire team but we are forever changed by such a faithful witness of the love of Jesus.  Chaplain Brian and team at the Suites at Someren Glen.
