Dorothy J. Scott, 81, of Englewood died peacefully at home on July 3rd, 2005
Services - Monday July 11, 2005 at Bullock Mortuary followed by inurnment at Littleton Cemetery.
Mrs. Scott was born Dorothy J. McLin in Fostoria, Texas on June 29, 1924. She grew up in Cleveland, Texas and in 1942 moved to Wilson, Oklahoma with her family. There she met the love of her life Lavell F. Scott. They married in 1943 and were separated by the war soon after. Dorothy and her family moved to Englewood and she supported the war effort by manufacturing ammunition at the Heckathorn Ammunition Plant. She was reunited with her husband in 1945. Together they started a family and a dry cleaning business in Englewood. As a full time wife, mother and partner in the dry cleaners she nurtured both the growth of the family and the business. Dorothy and Lavell retired in 1975 and spent summers in there home at the Shadow Mountain Recreation Park in Grand Lake, Colorado. They enjoyed the family atmosphere of the park with its many spontaneous gatherings, pot lucks and musical events. They loved playing host to many out of state family members and friends. In the off season they traveled extensively and saw many parts of the continental U.S.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband in 1999.
Survivors include: son "Frank" Lavell Jr. of Denver; daughter Dianne Hyatt of Morrison; sister Winnie Davidson of Grand Lake; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
