Donna May (Claus) Nail, 75 of Denver, CO. passed away October 22, 2012, at St. Anthony Hospital North in Westminster, CO.
 
She was born May 4, 1937 in Windsor, CO. to David and Leah (Waag) Claus. Donna grew up attending the Evangelical Congregational Church and was confirmed & Baptized there. 
 
She attended public schools in Windsor, CO. where she graduated in 1955.  Donna graduated from Central Business College of Denver, CO. in 1956.
 
She was employed by Alexander J. Lindsey & Company accounting firm in Denver. While she was employed there, she met Tommy R. Nail of Levelland, Texas. He was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO. where he attended nuclear weapons school. After his graduation, he was assigned to the newly formed U.S. Air Force Academy as an instructor , where he taught the first class of the new Air Force Cadets. Donna  married  Tom on September 15, 1957, in Windsor, CO., at the Evangelical Congregational Church In 1958.  Donna moved to Felixstowe, England to join her husband Tom in the U.S. Air Force. Donna & Tom traveled most of England & Scotland while living there for 3 years. Since Tom was an instructor, he was assigned temporary duties in Casablanca Morocco, & Tripoli Libya with the 91st fighter bomber squadron. Donna spent a lot of time with other Air Force wives and friends in Felixstowe while he was away.
 
Donna was blessed with their first child Michael Timothy, on June 2, 1960, at Bentwaters Air Force Base, England 6 weeks premature. Of course Tom was on duty and not around to help in the excitement.
 
Donna and Tom returned to the United States in January 1961 and lived in Ft Collins, Loveland, and Windsor area where they had several businesses.  Donna always worked in their endeavors.
 
Donna gave birth to their second child Tommy David, on September 9,1963 in Loveland, CO.
 
Donna was employed as a receptionist at the newly formed North Weld County Water District in Windsor.  She resigned her position there when husband Tom became the first field man for the district.
 
In 1965, Donna with her family moved to Victorville, CA. where Tom was offered a position with DynaElectron Corp as an instructor for pilots and support crews for Vietnam.
 
She lived in 9 different states including Hawaii during the next 4 years traveling with Tom & 2 son’s. 
 
In 1969 Donna returned to Windsor with her family, where she worked with husband Tom at the Valley Drive Inn Restaurant.
 
In July 1971 the family moved to their present home on Vine St. in Denver, CO.
 
She worked alongside Tom in several business, including Flying, Furniture stores in Texas,  Hair & Tanning salons, Real Estate & Steam Bath & Sauna sales & service in Denver.  Donna was the first lady of Steam in the Rocky Mountain West.  Tom & Donna commuted between Dallas and Denver for several years to take care o their business.   She retired on her birthday May 4, 2002.
 
She continued to travel with Tom in their airplanes and motor home.  She cared for her parents Dave & Leah Claus until she became ill with cancer.   At that time Tom took over as caretaker for Dave & Leah and also Donna.  She fought a lengthy battle and finally lost. 
 
She will be sadly missed by family,  friends & relatives. 
 

Donna leaves behind her husband Tom of 55 years, 2 sons Michael  & Tommy D., two daughter in laws Roberta & Lisa.  4 grandchildren Jeremy, Shane, Katlyn, & Evan & great granddaughter Payton June,  1 brother Harmon Claus of Bullhead City, AZ.  Her bible study group & many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Bullock Colonial Chapel on Sunday, October 28th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  Services will be held at the Bullock Colonial Chapel on Monday, October 29th at 12:00 Noon.  Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
