Donald M. Fairchild (89) of Evergreen, Co. passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Don was born August 2, 1936, in St. Elmo, Illinois, to the late David Otto Farichild and Orpha (Guthrie) Fairchild.

Don was a psychologist for the State of Colorado employed at Fort Logan Hospital for over 30 years. In addition, he opened his own private practice where he continued as a psychologist until he fully retired.

Beyond his professional life, Don found joy in music, often attending live concerts and jazz festivals. His greatest passions were the outdoors and photography, which inspired him to travel both nationally and internationally, capturing the awe-inspiring beauty of nature. Don loved the Colorado mountains and lived in Evergreen, Colorado since the 1970s.

His lifelong love of photography led him to become a founding member of Shadow Mountain Gallery in Evergreen, Colorado. Don also played a key role in creating the Student Art Show (now graciously named the Don Fairchild Student Art Show), a lasting legacy that has given young artists a platform to share their talents for over two decades.

Don is survived by his children, Doug (Laura) and Debra (Keith); Stepchildren Monica (Heath) Olson and Jason (Val) Williams: and his grandchildren Lindsay, Connor, Tyler, Cameron and Brittany, as well as his nephew Dave (Lori).

He is proceeded in death by his parents Otto and Orpha Fairchild, his brother David and his grandson Anthony.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Brookdale Highlands Ranch, for the amazing care and compassion he received in the final stages of Dementia.
