Dennis Rappenecker, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, with his beloved wife, Sandra, by his side. He was 79 years old.
Dennis was a devoted husband to his first wife, Dale (Dee), with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Following Dee’s passing, Dennis found renewed joy in life when he reconnected with an old friend of his and Dee’s, Sandra Busnardo, after forty years. Their short courtship blossomed into a loving marriage, and they enjoyed a fulfilling partnership for the last four years.
Dennis was a man of strong intellect, a flawless work ethic, and an even greater heart. He never met a stranger, and his quick wit, infectious laughter, and easy smile brightened every room he entered. He loved to travel and was always up for an adventure. He was a connoisseur of all things related to the American Old West, including magazines, books, and movies. Dennis also loved music, and if he wasn’t listening to it (or even if he was!), he would hum and whistle throughout his day. He was also a man of deep faith, and he expressed many times in the face of his recent illness that he was ready to be home with God.
Besides Sandra, he is survived by his three beloved children, Shawn Bell, Chris Rappenecker (Shannon Church), and Brandon Rappenecker, and step-children, Danielle Caveny and Rachelle Rendon; grandchildren Audra, Kyle, Erika, Katie, and Tennille; seven great-grandchildren; and six siblings; Sandy Harmon, Rita Burns (Tim), Gary Rappenecker (Peggy), Steve Rappenecker (Barb), Jo Wright (Dave), Kathy Stafford-Daly (Chris); along with many loving relatives and friends. In addition to his first wife, Dale, and his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved grandson Austin.
Dennis’s legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
A memorial mass will be held at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community on September 6, 2024, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to CBCI, reflecting Dennis’s commitment to giving and caring for others.
