David Hull Crocker
November 28, 1943 ~ July 22, 2021
David Hull Crocker was born on November 28, 1943 to Howard and Virginia
Crocker in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Kay)
Crocker, his brother Freeman (Maureen) Crocker, his son Darren (Lacy)
Crocker, his daughter Susan (Louie) LoSasso, his granddaughter's Shanda
Tillman, Makenna Crocker, Gracie Crocker and Gianna Billen, his grandson's
Colton (Meghan) Crocker and Joseph LoSasso as well as 2 great
grandchildren. Dave is preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son,
Dana Crocker.
After graduating from East high school in 1962, Dave was married and soon
celebrated the birth of his two sons, Dana and Darren. However, a few short
years later, Dave met the love of his life, Kay. Dave was working as the
Assistant Superintendent at Cherry Hill's Country Club where Kay was also
working in the payroll department. On March 6,1969 Dave and Kay were
married in Littleton, Colorado and united their two families as one. Shortly
after they were married, Dave legally adopted Sue as his own child.
They were a busy family of five now that enjoyed boating, water skiing,
snowmobiling, camping and spending wonderful family holidays together.
Dave also enjoyed doing cowboy action shooting and flying model airplanes
with his brother Freeman.
Dave had several careers in his lifetime. After leaving Cherry Hill's Country
Club he hung wallpaper with his good friend Eddie Fields for several years.
Then Dave worked for the City of Aurora in the streets department. But
Dave's true passion in life was racing! At the race track is where he earned
his nickname as "Super Dave". Dave began his racing career in 1968 at the
Englewood Speedway where he raced until it closed in 1979. The 1st
modified car he drove was metallic flake blue with the number 78 on it. Which
has seen since been passed down through his son's, grandson's and
granddaughter's, who all race with the same number 78. He won many races
and in 1975 and in 1976 he was modified track Champion. After Englewood
Speedway closed, Dave moved on to Sprint cars in Erie Colorado. His love of
racing and knowledge of cars took him far into his racing career. In fact,
Super Dave was inducted into the Colorado Motorsports Hall of Fame in
October 2013. Dave also built many race cars as well but was particularly
proud of his beloved hot red 1929 Ford pickup.
In 2006 Dave was diagnosed with dementia and he then retired from the City
of Aurora's street department. Shortly afterwards he and Kay spent most
every day together doing various activities as much as they could. They
enjoyed lunch outings with friends, thrift and antique shopping and long walks
around their neighborhood of Foxfield.
In 2019 when covid19 disrupted so many lives, the progression of the disease
really started to take its toll on Dave's body. Kay was an amazing spouse and
so faithful and loyal to her husband in need. On July 22 2021, Dave passed
away peacefully in his sleep. His memory and legacy will live on for future
generations at the race track and he will be dearly missed by so many, but
none more so than by his wife Kay.
Dave, you have made it to the finish line and have won yet another race!
Here is your checkered flag and until we meet again in the winner’s circle, rest
in peace my friend.

Thank you for the fun memories over the years, camping, 4-wheeling, cruises & family gatherings. You will be greatly missed by anyone that knew you. Your memory will live on through your generations of Crocker racing. Another special Angel watching over us. RIP. Dave.
Wow so many memories of this amazing man. Great times enjoyed and had so many laughs at Lake Powell.. so glad he was part of my upbringing.
Oh Dave, my sweet friend, I miss you so much. Although I only got to know you the last year of your life as your caregiver, I feel very blessed to have spent so many days with you. You melted my heart the way you would respond to me and even though we didn't "talk" a whole lot you sure did teach me a lot. I'm so sorry this disease took such a toll on you. But you were Super Dave and still got up and danced! The memory I have of you and Kay dancing in the kitchen will be in my heart always. I wish I could have met you earlier in your life but I feel God put us together for a reason. And I feel honored to have helped you this past year. And your amazingly sweet Kay! She has become such a wonderful friend of mine. She misses you like crazy. Please watch over her and let her know you are still with her. Give her signs from heaven. And I will continue to comfort her and let her know just how much I love you both. Rest in God's peace my friend. 💜
It's a Colorado rocky mountain high
And I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high

I will always think of you when I hear John Denver.
The purple ribbon is for the Alzheimers Association. RIP my sweet friend. I love you
Truely a great man! As a new employee he helped and taught me many things! With a lot of laughs and smiles along the way! Rest in peace and comfort!
Worked with Dave for many years at the city and was truly one of the good guys. RIP
Is there anyone in the world who didn't like Dave? NOPE. Dave was one of the most likable guys you would ever meet. He may have been a fierce competitor on the racetrack, but he was kind and courteous to a fault. The world needs more people with positive attitudes like Dave always had. RIP My friend.
I loved working with Dave at the City of Aurora! He was always happy, smiling and we shared a lot of laughs. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Scott Underwood.
