David "Dave" Roberts

David Roberts was born on July 16, 1952, and passed away on May 27, 2011. He was 58 years old, and a retired police officer. David was forced to retire from the Denver Police Department after being shot point-blank in the face by a suspect he was arresting on March 29, 1985. The shooting left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. David was well-known for his sense of humor and his desire to help others in need. After leaving the police department, he volunteered for the Rocky Mountain Brain Injury Center and taught a police safety course. He leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer Wedeking, 32, of Switzerland, a brother, Duane (Cindy) Roberts of Highlands Ranch, and two sisters, Lynne (Harold) Hoffman of Thornton, and Donette (Joe) Homra of Arvada.
