Born in: Denver, Colorado
Resided in: Aurora, Colorado

David Christopher Crowe, age 50, of Colorado, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, June 3, 2026, just six weeks after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage IV colon cancer.

David was born on March 14, 1976, in Denver, Colorado, to Frank and Sandy Crowe. If you knew Dave, it was more than a coincidence that he was born on Pi Day-a fitting detail, as math and science played a central role throughout his life. He also preferred pie to cake.

He graduated from Mullen High School in 1994 and went on to attend Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. There, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, graduating cum laude in 1998. After returning to Colorado, Dave began his career as a software engineer, working on defense contracts with TRW, which later became Northrop Grumman, and eventually continuing his work at Raytheon.

Dave had a lifelong love of science fiction and fantasy. Whether Star Trek, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, or Magic: The Gathering, he delighted in immersive worlds and thoughtful storytelling. He built an impressive collection of video and board games and was always eager to share them with friends.

Curious by nature, Dave never shied away from trying something new. He studied abroad in England, traveled to New Zealand and across Europe, learned the saxophone, played in a garage band, took piano lessons, learned Japanese, practiced karate, and even sang karaoke. He approached life with quiet enthusiasm and an openness to new experiences.

Exceptionally intelligent, Dave was often the smartest person in the room-but you might never know it. He never sought attention or recognition, instead quietly thinking through problems and finding the most elegant, efficient solutions. His humility, patience, and steadiness made him someone others trusted deeply.

Dave was an ideal husband and father, sharing countless inside jokes with his wife and daughter. His humor and laughter were a constant delight, and his deep sincerity and thoughtful kindness were at the heart of what made him so extraordinary. In 2015, Dave married the love of his life, Moon Yang, and together they built a warm, playful, and loving home. A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Sofia, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.

Dave and Sofia loved playing Minecraft together, building and exploring in their own special world. Dave also shared a love of the television show Community with Moon-a bond that began early in their relationship. Their first Christmas together, theyunknowingly gifted each other the same present: matching Troy and Abed coffee mugs, a small but perfect reflection of how closely they understood one another and their shared sense of humor.

In 2025, Dave and Moon celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary with a trip to Portland, Oregon-a place that held special meaning as where they had gotten engaged years earlier. They returned to celebrate this milestone the way they loved most: trying new restaurants and going on a food walking tour, one of their favorite traditions when traveling.

A testament to Dave’s character was the way he brought people together-and the way they welcomed those he loved. His close circle of friends warmly embraced Moon as one of their own, beginning with a book club and growing into regular game nights, tea parties, and shared laughter.

Dave was an incredible friend, known for hosting game nights and creating spaces where everyone felt included. He had a gentle spirit that made others feel safe, valued, and at ease. He was patient, kind, deeply genuine, and the steady rock of his family-resilient, dependable, and full of quiet strength.

Earlier this year, Dave celebrated his 50th birthday with a special trip to New Mexico with Moon and Sofia, fulfilling a lifelong dream of riding in a hot air balloon-a memory that will be cherished by those who shared it with him.

Dave is preceded in death by his father, Frank Crowe Jr. He is survived by his mother, Sandy; his beloved wife, Moon; his daughter, Sofia; his sisters, Sarah and Sharon; and his nieces and nephews, Daphne, Chloe, Emma, Savana, Joanna (Tyler), and Brandon.

Dave’s life, though far too short, was rich with curiosity, kindness, and quiet brilliance. All who knew him are better for having had him in their lives.

A graveside service will be held with close family. A celebration of Dave’s life will take place in August; details will be shared with friends and loved ones.
