Curtis Youngsma
June 30, 1935 ~ August 1, 2013
Curt Youngsma, age 78, went to be with his Lord on August 1, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marj, and four children: Christy (Ben) Savage, of Sydney, Australia; Julie (Doug) Drost of Denver; Susan (David) Wilkins of Hudsonville, Michigan; David (Charys) of Littleton; and eight grandchildren: Laura, Jennifer, Colin, Christina, Melissa, Leah, Joshua and Erin. Curt was preceded in death by his brother, Steven.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Curt attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After joining the army, he was stationed at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver. Curt and Marj met through Third Christian Reformed Church and have remained members since.
Curt owned a painting and contracting business. He built custom homes, fixed and flipped houses, and was a master at faux finishes. He was also successful in the rental real estate market.
He was dedicated to many organizations, serving on their boards, and was a long standing chairman of his church's Facilities Committee. Curt loved art, spending time in the mountains, and creating scenes for his garden railroad. God gifted Curt with a beautiful bass voice, artistic talent, and a wonderfully creative mind.
The family will greet friends and relatives at Bullock Chapel Monday, from 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 7, at 11:00 AM at Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 S. Ash St., Denver, 80222. In lieu of flowers, financial donations can be made to Calvin College, Denver Christian Schools, or the Alzheimer's Association. Donations of time can be made with volunteer hours at ReNew Upscale Resale.
"Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him."
