Christoper Michael Gridley was born Dec. 6th, 1986, in Denver, CO at Saint Anthony Central on West Colfax. Chris left this life on Aug. 11, 2025, at Collier Hospice in Wheatridge, CO. He lived with his grandparents most of his life in Lakewood, CO. Chris was given the nickname Grasshopper by a dear friend Stella, who was at the time referred to as a Big Bird. She said it the way the Karate Kid was told like “Grasshopper my son…”
Chris was always tinkering with something as a kid, models, old lawn mowers, pretty much anything he could get his hands on to take apart and put back together he would do it. Chris graduated from Lakewood High School and Warren Tech and was a machinist early in his adulthood. He had the ability to make friends wherever he went, he had an infectious personality. He loved motorcycles, animals, camping, fishing, dirt biking and his family and friends.
Christoper is survived by his mother Michelle DeVine, stepfather Abel Shippley, his father James DeVine, his sister Crystal DeVine, his grandparents Robert and Annemarie Gridley (Michelle), Steve DeVine (James), Robert and Karen Fisher (James).
Celebration of life will be held on Sunday Sept. 7, 2025, 1pm to 5pm at the Lakewood Elks Lodge 1455 Newland St, Lakewood, CO 80214.
Hopper touched so many people in his short time on this earth. His soul is now at peace. Ride the sky forever and watch over us. We love you.
