Charles "Pete" Tracey, Jr., 79, of Conifer went on to his next journey on July 6, 2020. Pete was born on September 17, 1940 to Charles Pete Tracey and Augusta Pearle Staab Tracey. In his early life, he was a resident of Hugo, CO, later moving to Lakewood and the Conifer/Evergreen area, where the family had a ranch home at what is now the Flying J Ranch Park.
For nearly four decades, Pete was a talented and well-known musician, playing guitar and singing Rock n' Roll and Country Western music all over Colorado in bands such as The Three Dimensions, Triangle, Dean Carr and His Corvettes, The Pete Tracey Trio, The Desert Sons, Night Beat, Memory Lane, The Country 4, and others. He also loved sports (particularly baseball), nature, wildlife, comedy, and was a terrific artist.
Pete worked at a variety of jobs in the first half of his life, holding positions with the State of Colorado, Western Geophysical, and started his own upholstery repair business called Arapahoe Colormate. He later obtained a CDL and safely drove buses for casinos, then schools. He retired from his career as a Transportation Trainer with the Jefferson County School District in 2011.
Anyone who got to know Pete found him to be kind, funny, patient, generous, and smart. He was always quick with a joke, and loved to lift people's spirits if they were feeling down. After retiring, he liked to join his friends for morning coffee at Wendy's and also enjoyed singing karaoke and catching live performances at Brooks Place Tavern.

Among those waiting to greet him were his parents, sister Patricia "Patt" Castro, niece Tonya Putnam, and former wife Pam Franks. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Tracey, sons Charles and John (Jessica Cordova) Tracey, grandchildren Devon Ross, Sera Visconti, Johnny Thomas and Vincent Tracey, nieces Tina Threlkeld and Tracey Villalobos, nephew Victor Castro, cousin Mike (Peggy) Hennick, former wife Crystal, and many wonderful long-time friends that held a special place in his heart.
In lieu of services, a tribute video featuring a lifetime of photos and Pete's music is available free of charge for anyone who would like a copy by simply emailing a request to Sandra at
