Charles Leon

February 20, 1941 ~ February 16, 2023
LEON, Charles - It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Leon announce his passing after a brief illness, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the age of 81 years. Charles (also known as Charlie and Chaz) was born in Ft Lupton, CO in 1941 and was one of six children born to Alfred and Helen Leon. He worked several jobs growing up but spent most of his working years with the City and County of Denver in the Parks Department where he was able to take advantage of his love of the outdoors. While he was always taking care of something or someone, he always made time to cheer on his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. It’s a passion he shared with his family and friends which were abundant because Charles was well known and respected throughout his community. Always ready to lend a hand, he was kind hearted and giving to those in need. His warm smile and contagious laugh attracted people to him enabling him to establish friendships that lasted many decades. What Charles lived for the most was his family. He met the love of his life, Juanita while still in high school, married and went on to have five children; Charlie, Angel, Timothy, Valerie and David. Those five children gave him six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Charles was often found at his children’s businesses helping out were he could and making new friends among the staff and clients. Later in life, he loved nothing more then spending time with his grandchildren. He would often say they were his blessing in life. Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Juanita and his children, Timothy (DJ), Valerie, and David (Steven). Charles will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, extended family and many life long friends. He was predeceased by his eldest children, Charlie and Angel as well as all four of his brothers and only sister. A Funeral Service in memory of Charles will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2626 E Seventh Ave Pkwy with a celebration of life to follow at the Moose Lodge, 4688 W Alameda Ave, Denver. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Charles Leon to the Samaritan House Denver c/o Catholic Charities, 6240 Smith Road, Denver, CO 80216 or by visiting https://ccdenver.org/donate/ . Saddened to hear about Charles passing and my love and thoughts go to the family and all who were blessed by his life, his presence and spirit. I always enjoyed seeing him on a Saturday morning if I was by
fortunate to be at the salon on a Saturday morning when he got his trim. Hearing the joy and seeing the smiles as he talked about the family and any weekend plans was wonderful. It runs in the family as his children and their children embrace all life offers and challenges us too. Seeing this grove of trees growing to honor him is so wonderful. May love and light continue onward as you remember and celebrate your beloved Charles.
