Catharine McClure Wakefield, born July 27th, 1912, in Antonito, Colorado, was a longtime resident of Englewood. She died Saturday, January 12, 2008, in Searcy, Arkansas, where she has lived for nine years with her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lee Buchly.

She graduated from Loretto Heights Academy, attended the University of Colorado, and worked at the Civic Center in Denver as a secretary before marriage to Timothy Ladd Wakefield, an electrical engineer, on November 4, 1937.

Mrs. Wakefield was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and Mary Margaret Circle of St. Louis Catholic Church for many years, participated in many volunteer services, and was a Republican committee woman. She was an accomplished pianist and taught her children the joy of music. She was singing until her death. When Mr. Wakefield joined the Mile-Hi Jeep Club, Catharine became an enthusiastic participant.

She loved to read, and to work crossword puzzles. She loved people, picnics in the mountains, parties, politics, travel, and family.

Survivors include her brother, William Frederick (Aretta) McClure, of Quilcene, WA, and her children: Michael (Sally), Highlands Ranch, CO; Judy (Lee) Buchly, Searcy, AR; Kathleen (Gerald) Froelke, Vienna, VA; Timothy, Jr, Littleton, CO; and William, Santa Rosa, CA.

Catharine had 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Louis Catholic Church, 3310 South Sherman, Englewood CO, at 10:00 am on Friday, January 18th, Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 17th, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm with a Recitation of the Rosary following at 8:30 pm at Bullock Colonial Chapel, 1375 East Hampden, Englewood, CO.
