Carolyn Dorothy Capesius

Carolyn was born in Mallard Iowa to Alfred and Dorothy Hersom and she was one of 6 kids. When she was 15, a lanky young man was outside on her road.  Story is Jerry was on a scooter out front of her house ( I imagine showing off) and he crashed and needed some  repair. He was taken inside as he knew her brother Burt, and that’s where their love story began. Carolyn played volleyball in HS and was also a cheerleader. They attended prom together and were later married in 1956 with a beautiful wedding surrounded by their family and friends. They enjoyed riding motorcycles, and left for their honeymoon on one. She also went to business school and worked at JC Penney’s. Sometime during their marriage Jerry was summoned by the United States Army. This took him away from her, however she had the courage and bravery to travel alone to Germany to be with him. They had their first blessing a son named Steve, while in Germany. Afterwards they returned to Iowa where their second blessing a daughter named Allison was born. As time passed some of their good friends in Iowa had moved to Colorado, so they decided to move to Colorado as well. Here, their third blessing a girl named Susan was born.

Carolyn was a homemaker, talented seamstress, enjoyed her fellowship at church, was involved in her children’s schools and was active in the motorcycle club they belonged too.

Her world was her endearing husband, 3 children, 10 Grand- children and 4 Great grand- children which she loved tremendously- as we loved her. She had a beautiful smile and was a caring person.

Together they created a beautiful life and family together. Thru all the years together, whether richer or poorer, or better or worse, or in sickness or in health, they instilled a bond in which love never failed.  Carolyn was the sparkle in Jerry’s eye, and she was the sparkle in his. This glimmer continues to shine, as her memory and zest for life will live on. She is our blessing spanning generations in which we are forever grateful.

Guestbook

  1. Carolyn (and Jerry) are considered a part of our family.  We have such wonderful memories of her at family events, birthdays and camping.  She was always there to greet you with a warm smile and a caring hug.  I know she loved her times with children and grandchildren and was so proud of each of you. Her presence will be surely missed. May GOD grant you comfort from you pain and may you find strength in your memories of such a wonderful and kind lady.  Love Joe and Lisa Gallegos.
