In Loving Memory of: CALVIN FRANK CRAGGS (October 11th, 1940-December 19th, 2019) Devoted Husband and Father
Calvin Frank Craggs was born in Boulder Colorado on October 11th 1940 to mother Bernice Craggs and father Joseph Craggs. Calvin was born into a family with one other sibling brother Randall Craggs. Calvin was the oldest of the 2 brothers. Calvin spent several years in Colorado, Oregon and Wyoming while growing up as a child.
Calvin Craggs met his wife Florene Craggs at the Pillar of Fire Church radio station, KPOF, in December of 1965. Calvin was on 2 weeks military leave when church member Perry Ruby introduced the two of them. Florene attended collage and worked as a phone operator on the Pillar of Fire campus from 1965-1968. On June 2nd, 1968, Calvin married Florene Craggs in Greeley Colorado. (Honeymoon in Estes Park.) The couple moved to Lakewood Colorado in February of 1973 and had 2 children together. Their first son, Ronald David Craggs, was born on December 24th, 1969 at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver Colorado. Calvin and Florene used to always talk about how much they remembered Ronny being wrapped up in a Christmas stocking right after his birth. The 2nd child, Stanley Peter Craggs, was born on July 14th 1974, also in Denver Colorado. Calvin and Florene were happily married 39 and a half years. On January 4th, 2008 Florene Craggs passed away at 61 years of age. On April 15th 2010, son Ronald Craggs passed away just after his 40th Birthday. Then on December 19th, 2019 father and husband Calvin Craggs died at the age of 79. He now joins Florene and Ronald to be with the Holy Father, Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Calvin will always be remembered for his strong work ethic and faith in Jesus. Calvin Craggs served several years as a staff Sergeant E6 in the Army National Guard before being Honorably discharged on November 8th 1993. He officially was retired from service on October 11th, 2000. Calvin also spent several years working as a Draftsman and then a Janitor at the Government Center in Lakewood Colorado. Calvin was a devoted husband and father who always wanted to do the right thing not only to serve his family but also honor his faith in Jesus in the process. Calvin attended church at multiple locations including the Pillar of Fire and Mountair Church throughout the years even after his wife and son passed away. Calvin made many friends over the years but greatly missed his wife and son whom he talked about daily. Calvin really enjoyed painting, playing Bingo and dancing in his final years.
Some of Calvin's favorite memories of his wife Florene were the trips they took together as a couple after being married to Oregon, New York, Canada, New Hampshire, Vermont, Delaware, Rhode Island, Washington DC and Los Angeles. Calvin remembered the first day he met Florene as one of the best days of his life.
Calvin is survived by: Son Stanley (Craggs) Stevens. His brother Randall Craggs--Daughter Pauline and Garrett Duran and her four children Patricia Ann Duran, Atiena Fae Duran, Alicia Bernice Duran and Victoria Feit Duran. Brother in Law Lowell Ferguson, Niece and Nephew Angela and Mike McQuirt.
Me 20 Years ago with God……..
"I've gone so far from my home
I've seen the world and I have known
So many secrets
I wish now I did not know
'Cause they have crept into my heart
They have left it cold and dark
And bleeding,
Bleeding and falling apart
And everybody used to tell me big boys don't cry
Well I've been around enough to know that that was the lie
That held back the tears in the eyes of a thousand prodigal sons
Well we are children no more, we have sinned and grown old
And our Father still waits and He watches down the road
To see the crying boys come running back to His arms
And be growing young
Growing young
And when I thought that I was all alone
It was your voice I heard calling me back home
And I wonder now Lord
What it was that made me wait so long
And what kept You waiting for me all that time
Was Your love stronger than my foolish pride
Will You take me back now, take me back and let me be Your child
'Cause I've been broken now, I've been saved
I've learned to cry, and I've learned how to pray
And I'm learning, I'm learning even I can be changed"
(Rich Mullins-Growing Young)
