Burdette Powell
February 27, 1916 ~ January 5, 2014
Burdette Powell, 97, of Englewood, CO passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014.
He was born to the late Walter and Hazel Powell, February 27, 1916, in Trenton, NE. Burdette graduated from Trenton High School, attended one year of college and taught one year of primary school before moving to Colorado.
Burdette sold insurance for 20 years with Prudential Insurance Co. retiring in 1973. He sold real estate in the Denver area for many years.
Burdette was a member of Englewood Masonic Lodge # 166 and Manzanita Chapter No. 85 Order of the Eastern Star.
Burdette was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, his wife Violet (Munn) Powell and his wife Vida (Newport) Powell.
He is survived by his son Michael Powell, his son Richard Houlahan, his daughter Barbara (Houlahan) Ricks, four grand children and five great grand children.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1:30 pm at the Bullock Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Powell was our insurance man for many years. My mother looked forward to Mr. Powell's monthly calls to collect premiums. He always had time to visit. He was a good man and a true gentlemen.
So sorry that we can't make it out for the service. They are talking bad weather. Keep us up to date on every one.
The Powells were our neighbors on Grant Street back in the 50's. I remember Mr. Powell as a kind man who was always smiling and seemed to truly like all of us kids in the neighborhood. A gentle soul, may he rest in peace.
