Betty Goosman

Betty Goosman passed away on October 6th 2014 in Castle Rock, Colorado at the age of 80.  She had become very frail and had severe dementia but we are thankful that she still remembered her family.  She took a particular interest in her granddaughter Jessica to the very end.

Betty spent most of her life here in Colorado.  She was born in Monte Vista on January 20th 1934 and grew up around that area in the beautiful San Luis Valley in south-western Colorado.  Betty had lived in an assisted living home in Castle Rock for the past two and a half years.  Prior to that she had lived in Parker for about six years where she quickly made many friends amongst her neighbors and at the Parker Senior Center where she continued her hobby of ceramics.  But most of Betty’s life was spent in Englewood where she worked for the City of Englewood for 28 years.  She started at the old City Hall building, continued at the Service Centre and volunteered after her retirement at the Malley Senior Recreation Center.

Her son Kevin has lived his adult life outside of the States and as an only child that was difficult for Betty.  However, this did ensure that she had many opportunities to travel, something she enjoyed greatly.

Betty is survived by her son Kevin, daughter-in-law Jill,  granddaughter Jessica, sister Sharon and brother Ron.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 11 a.m. at Bullock Mortuary, 1375 E. Hampden Avenue, Englewood, CO.  Anyone who wishes to celebrate Betty’s life is welcome.  There will also be an informal gathering after the service at the Malley Senior Recreation Center, 3380 S. Lincoln Street, Englewood, Colorado, 80113.
