Bernie Mora was a friend from the very moment we met him. We met Bernie while painting our first of four murals nearby his home in Summer of 2020 along the Clear Creek in Denver, Colorado.
Bernie resembled one of my friends who recently passed away that same week which made it feel like we were friends for years from the very beginning. We did not know that he would pass away only a few month later…
We clicked as friends immediately, Bernie visited us almost every day as we painted our murals in his neighborhood with his faithful dog “Rafael” who loves the outdoors from the open space to run as fast as he can and to play in the Clear Creek where he swam for the first time. It was always refreshing to see Bernie, Bernie had a knack for knowing when closing-time was for the mural project; he would join us for Happy Hour in the hot, dog days of summer that we experienced in 2020. On quite a few occasions, Bernie brought us tamales, chicharones and cold refreshments as true friends do for each other.
We looked forward to seeing Bernie many more years while we would visit our recent 3 murals that he helped us design with the nature surrounding the Clear Creek; including the Rocky Mountains which he expressed so much love for in the earlier days of his life. Unfortunately, we did not know that the last time we would speak was one morning after Bernie was on a ventilator for quite some time. We realize the danger of COVID and we can say that we truly lost a great person who we enjoyed spending time with, listening to stories from all eras in his lifetime and resonating as people who are making our way in the journey of life. We wish your journey would not have ended so soon Bernie; you're one of the good ones our friend.
Our condolences to his family. Bernie is gone too soon.
Cheers!
