Baxter Drake Primus

baxter primus

Baxter Drake Primus, born June 19th, 1997, died unexpectedly February 28, 2021, as a result of an accidental overdose of alcohol and painkillers. Baxter was a loving little kid, with his own way of doing things. He excelled at all things academic. He attended Denver Public Schools for elementary and middle school. His high school experience included four months in a wilderness program in Utah, and graduation one year early from Accelerated Schools of Denver. Baxter had a goal of becoming a welder and completed a seven-month certification program at Tulsa Welding School. He graduated with distinction. In late Spring 2018, he was hired as a welder at SteelCo, which became his second family. Baxter loved to experience the outdoors - the rougher the better. Throughout his life he was friendly to all he met and treated others with empathy and respect. He is survived by his parents, Chris Primus and Lisa Schmidt, brother Quincy, sisters Miriam and Lily, grandparents Robert and Constance Primus, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and a wide circle of friends. Our profound love for Baxter will never end.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. What a sad loss, the world will miss a great soul. We remember Baxter as a fun, active, and strong child. With a wonderful imagination. He was one the first kids we ever babysat, and we have nothing but fond memories of him. We are so sorry for your loss. All our love to the entire Primus/Schmidt family. Love Mandy and Stephanie Schmeling

  2. Mandy and Stephanie:
Thank you for your kind words.  You were such great babysitters.  We always knew the kids were safe with you, and have often shared memories of their babysitting experiences.
Lisa, Chris, Miriam, Quincy and Lily.

  3. Chris, Lisa, Quincy, Miriam and Lily-I am so sorry to hear of Baxter's passing.  Losing a son or sibling has got to be one of the hardest feelings any heart should have to endure.  I am confident that your family will keep his spirit in warm protection forever.  You have each other to lean on,  help, and love through this painful loss.  We will all miss Baxter-such a sweet and gentle guy-with the big Schmidt-Primus heart!

  4. I will never forget how cute a young man boy he was. And this hair that was so thick and stood up all over the place. And him riding with his mom and his siblings in the blue van. And how sweet and kind he was every time he came to visit..He was such a special young man.

  5. Baxter, I am going to miss your kind heart and that smile you always gave me whenever I came upon you.  You will always hold a special place in my heart  I am so glad to have known you.

Primus family, I love you all and am sending peace and comfort to you.  Love, Stasi

  6. My sincere condolences are with your family.  We have fond memories of our two boys playing, and exploring the woods while camping with Baxter and his siblings. I always remember 3-year old Baxter's laughing response and questions when I told him the name of the "horsetail" plants along the creek. . . . . Leading to crafting and launching horsetail rafts!
