Arbella E Herrera
November 27, 1946 - August 16, 2017

Arbella was born in Denver, Colorado on November 27, 1946. She was baptized under the name Arbella Nancy Esther. She has lived in Denver all of her life. Her father was a decorated army veteran. He is resting in Fort Logan National Cemetery. Her mother and most of her family are buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, where she wishes to accompany them.

In 1964, she married Freddie A Herrera and together they raised two boys - Alfred and Alan. Arbella and Freddie were married for 53 years, until cancer claimed her life on August 16, 2017.

Arbella worked for many years at The Department of Human Services (Denver and Jeffco) in different capacities. She was a Case Worker for Public Assistance, and worked as a Supervisor in the Workforce Center, from which she retired in 2006.

Arbella was a creative person who would take on different hobbies. She enjoyed family time and fishing at their cabin in Twin Lakes, Colorado. She was always crafting things - from Dream Catchers to Jewelry. One such craft was making rosaries to give to anyone that asked for one. When she was asked why she didn't sell them, she replied, "I would never sell them. I am spreading the Lord's Love by giving my rosaries to the people." Besides making rosaries, she also loved to work on her flower garden. She would spend hours weeding it so her Lilly's would be free to grow and blossom.

She developed Breast cancer in 1985, and had a lumpectomy. In 1997, it came back and she had a mastectomy. 20 years later, in July of 2017, she became very sick. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and was placed on antibiotics. When she did not get better, she was taken to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with "several nodules" in her lungs and liver. She went in for a biopsy and was sent home. 4 days later she was informed she had an incurable breast cancer. Throughout her illness, she never gave up her faith. Often saying things like, "It's in God's Hands", and always telling people, "God Bless you. Have a Blessed Day." She expressed to her husband "I want to go home" and he replied "God is taking you home".

Her Love for God was so great that around the age of 14, she began going to church 7 days a week, to receive communion and praise God. She only missed church when it was closed or she was too sick to attend. On those days, she watched the mass on TV.

She never told anyone goodbye, it was always, "Viya Con Dios" (Go with God)! We would like to say back to her, "Viya Con Dios!"

Survived by Husband, Freddie, sons Alfred (Renee) and Alan (Olga) as well as 6 Grand children (Randelle, Stephanie, Zack, Aldo, Leo, and Ruben) and 13 Great Grandchildren (Sergio, Raina, Diego, Ace, Lillee, Ember, AshleyMichelle, Briana, Emma, Isaac, Drosiv, Josiah, and Jazmyn), Sisters, Toni, Priscilla (Chuck), Liz, Brother Frank (Laura), and numerous nieces and nephews
