 Anthony “Tony” Wasinger

 

Tony left this life November 10, 2011 at the VA hospital in Denver, Co surrounded by his family. He was born May                 26, 1914 in Walker, Kansas to Francis and Margaret Wasinger.

He married the love of his life Agnes on April 12, 1945. Agnes preceded him in death in 2008 after 63 years together. They raised seven children-4 sons and 3 daughters. Two of his sons preceded him in death; James (Joyce) in 1996 and Robert (Gail) in 2000. He was also preceded in death by a grandson Erick in 1997.

Tony is survived by his children- Richard, Santa Barbara, CA; Susan (Roy) Brace, Littleton, CO; Helen (Jerry) Dukes, Texarkana, TX; Louise (Michael) McDonald, Northglenn, CO and Joseph (Rexine), Aurora, Co. and grandchildren-Luke Peters, Melissa Coleman, Michele Carpinello, Anthony Dukes, John Dukes and Emily Ely as well as his great grandchildren-Levi, Joshua and Michael Peters, Audrey Coleman, Cameron Carpinello, Taylor Wortman and Jordan and Mikaela Ely-Wasinger.

            He served with pride in the U.S. Army for 5 ½ years as a combat Infantryman heavy truck driver during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. After serving in the Army, he worked as a Pipefitter until he retired and remained a member of BTJ Pipefitter Union.

            He was a life member of VFW 9644 in Englewood, CO and served as Post Commander several times. He served as All American Department Commander of the VFW for the state of Colorado from 1984-1985. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 84.

            He was an active member at All Souls Catholic Church in Englewood, Co and a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.      

Recitation of the Rosary will be held Bullock Colonial Chapel on Tuesday November 15, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 10:00 am at All Souls Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 12:15 pm. A reception will be held after graveside services at All Souls Catholic Church.

                                    God saw him getting tired,

                                    A cure not meant to be,

                                    So He put his arms around him,

                                    And whispered….”Come with Me.”
