He owned a successful internet trading company called the Blackwell Creek Company and was an amateur paleontologist; always looking for fossils and other items of historical interest. Tony looked forward to retiring at the family ranch. He was not a cowboy; he was a hunter, a fisherman, and a naturalist. Tony was grateful for the ranchers in the Model, CO area for allowing him to hunt for big game on their lands for over 40 years. Tony was so proud of his Hispanic/Native American Heritage and could often be seen hunting in Model, CO in the full Mountain Man regalia he had fashioned himself. He was a strong, brave warrior, until the very end. Tony Benavidez lived his life the way he wanted to live it.
