Alice Elizabeth (Betty) Rowan Moore, 82, of Denver, Colorado died Friday, November 28, 2008 in Morrison, Colorado.

Born May 8, 1926 in Tallulah, Louisiana. She grew up in the south, in Louisiana, Mississippi, she spent most of her youth in Marvell, Arkansas, where she graduated from Marvell High School in 1943. She attended Ward-Belmont School for Girls in Memphis Tennessee. She then attended Texas School of Mines in El Paso, Texas where she met her husband Robert H. Moore of El Paso, TX. They married November 2, 1946 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Betty had a passion for knowledge, and at the age of 56 she enrolled at Arapahoe Community College, in Littleton, CO and was on the Deans List. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family she loved so dearly. A friend described Betty best by saying, "Betty has always been a universal mother -- she'll mother anyone who will let her. Someone who always listened and provided reassurance. No one could hold a candle to Betty's fried chicken in her prime! I'm privileged and honored to have had the opportunity to know her."

She is survived by sons Robert H. Moore Jr. (Donna) of Englewood, Colorado and Keith W. Moore of Edgewater, Colorado; daughters Melanie R Moore, of Denver, Colorado and Karen E. (Joseph) Faulkner of Manhattan Beach, California; Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother Louis C. Rowan of Galt, California numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents Alice P. Ward & James M Rowan, both of Marvel, Arkansas; her brother Judge James M. Rowan Jr., of Camden, Arkansas and her husband of 52 years, Robert H. Moore.

Memorial services will at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. (Staging area A)
