Agnes Elaine Pankoski

Agnes Elaine Pankoski died on Thanksgiving Day, November 24th, 2016 surrounded by family, at the age of 92.   She joyfully followed her husband, Vic, to their heavenly home where he went August, 3rd, 2015.

Agnes was born in Topeka, Kansas to James and Nellie Selba on October 23rd, 1924.  She is survived by her three children, Vicki (Jerry) Urban, Vince (Cathy) Pankoski, and Steve (Laurie) Pankoski.  She will be remembered affectionately by her eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren as "Nanny."

Agnes moved to Denver with her family when she was three years old. She met the one and only love of her life, Vic, and married him on January 16th, 1943.

Agnes was known for her love of her Catholic faith, devotion to the Holy Spirit and her great sense of humor. She spent most of her time doing volunteer work for her church (All Souls) & Cherrelyn Manor Assisted Living, visiting the sick and elderly and helping the poor.  She could be seen riding her bike to daily mass until she was 85 years old. Her favorite hobby was making flower arrangements.  She used her floral arranging talents by doing wedding and other special occasions.

Recitation of the Rosary will be on Tuesday, December 6th, at 7:00 PM at Bullock Colonial Chapel.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at 10:00 AM at All Souls Catholic Church, where a reception will follow.

A special thanks to Laurie and Steve for the in-home care they gave to Agnes during the past seven months, allowing her to die peacefully in her home, granting her this special wish.

Our Agnes

She's our loving mom, grandmother

Relative, a friend to us all.

How can we describe her

Devoted to the Holy Spirit was her call

She is the one whom God has chosen

to remind us in every way

Of the Holy Spirit alive and present

Reminding us, always to pray.

We love you our Dear Mother,

Grandmother, relative, our friend

Your joyfulness and laughter

Within us shall never end.

Our walk on earth with you

Shall stay alive, each every day

Because your presence is awesome

Within us shall forever stay.

Guestbook

  1. Aggie was my neighbor and great friend for many years. She talked me into taking the job of being in charge of church cleaning at All Souls Church for many years. She was always so involved at All Souls with keeping the Altar beautiful and taking all the new Priests around the area. Her other project was Cherrylyn Manor Nursing Home where she spent man, many years. I know Aggie is happy now with the Holy Spirit, he has been at her side for many, many years. Aggie always turned anything that wasn't right into a blessing. She was a beautiful lady and a great person.
You forgot to mention that she was during World War II, she was the original "Rosie, the Rivitor".

  2. Agnes was my Godmother and I will always treasure our time together. She was truly beautiful in every way! My family's thoughts, love and prayers are with the Pankoski family.

  3. I am sad to miss the funeral, thank you to all of my family and all of Nan's friends for celebrating with her on Wednesday as she is laid to rest. On Thanksgiving morning I told my 6 year old daughter (Nanny's great granddaughter) with tears in my eyes that she had passed. My daughter touched my face and said "don't be sad mommy, Nanny will be a great spirit for us here." Well said my child and she was right. Nanny has already proven to be a gift for us in Spirit. Love, Hollie

  4. I will be forever grateful to my dear Agnes for her encouragement and counseling. She really helped my
Catholic faith and love of the Holy Spirit to grow. Thank you dear friend. I will always love you!! Please continue to pray for our family.

  5. I've lost track of Agnes over the years — it's been at least 50 years since I've seen or heard from her — but her name jumped off the page at me and I recalled many sweet memories of when we both worked for my uncle at one of his motels on South Broadway. Agnes was a kind and giving person and her infectious smile and sweet personality could light up a room. Sincere condolences to her family, whom she adored.
