Adolfo Gomez, Jr.
January 26, 1937 ~ April 9, 2019
Adolfo Gomez Jr. was born In San Rafael, Colorado on January 26, 1937 to Adolfo Gomez Sr. and his wife Sylvia. The family moved to Denver where Adolfo grew up with his siblings in the Auraria neighborhood of Denver. He went to West High School where he would meet his future wife, Eleanor Archuleta.
He worked as a shag boy at Luby Chevrolet, then as an auto mechanic, and later went on to have his own private automotive service. In the 1970s, he became a community activist and eventually rose up to become the Executive Director of the Auraria Community Center where he established one of the very first Head Start programs. He also established programs for senior nutrition and sports programs for kids.
Moving on from Auraria in the mid 80s, he created a plumbing company and subsequently went on to become a broker for Keller Williams Real Estate.
Adolfo passed peacefully on April 9, 2019
He is survived by his four children, Jerome, Bruce, Mitchell and Karen, and eleven grandchildren.
He is also survived by seven siblings: Toni, Arabella, Gloria, Sylvia, Arnold, Carol and Bernadette.
