William (Bill) Van Wyke

Bill was born September 28, 1934 in Greeley Colorado. He passed away September 23, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bonnie. He is also survived by his four daughters, Kelly (Ken) Knox, Lori Miller, Cari (Kurt) Campbell, and Cheri Waterfield. Bill leaves behind 7 loving grandchildren, Becky (Joel) Braman, Tyler (Amanda) Knox, Katie (Jeff) Wheeler, Jessica Campbell, Meghan Campbell, Cole Campbell and Blake Miller. In addition he was blessed with knowing and loving 4 great-grandchildren, William, Kayla, and Titus Braman and Gracie Sue Knox. He is also survived by his brother Don Van Wyke and sister Jan Nyenhuis. Bill is predeceased by his brother Jim Van Wyke and sister Sue Jensen.

As a Colorado native, he had a lifetime love of the outdoors and was ever thankful to be surrounded by the majesty and beauty that God created.

Bill had a passion for his lifelong work of building and creating things with his hands. He will be remembered fondly by all who worked with him, and certainly by his family, for his practical nature, his exacting standards, his work ethic and the great pride he took in his work.

Bill and Bonnie firmly believed in the value of a quality Christian education and made many sacrifices for their children to make that happen. Bill was a member of the first graduating class of Denver Christian High School in 1953. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, family and friends may make contributions to Denver Christian Tuition Assistance in memory of Bill Van Wyke. Donations can be mailed to Denver Christian, 3898 S Teller St, Lakewood, CO, 80235

A memorial service will be held on Friday September 26th 11:30 AM at Hillcrest Christian Church.

  4. I can't express enough the sorrow we felt when we first learned of Bill's passing. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family at this time. When I think of Bill I'll often reflect on the phrase – 'Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened'. Knowing Bill was a privilege and honor and he will be sorely missed. Our love always.
