Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sondra “Jeanine” Johnson. Born on January 27, 1938, in Wichita, Kansas, Jeanine, as she was affectionately known, left this world surrounded by the love of her family. She is now reunited with her late husband, Rollin Edward Johnson, Jr., who passed away on October 4, 2016.
Jeanine was a woman of unwavering strength and a beacon of compassion. She was a devoted daughter to her late parents, Irving Leon and Iva Verna (Athens) McKay, and a loving sister to the late Delores Harrell. Her greatest joy and most challenging role was raising her three boys. She embraced this task with a quiet resilience and a sense of humor that could get them through anything. She was their biggest cheerleader, their toughest critic, and the one person who could always be counted on for unconditional love and a listening ear. She taught her sons to be strong, kind, and to never give up on what they believed in—lessons that are now etched into the foundation of their lives.
In her final years, Jeanine found immense joy in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her brother, Mike McKay, and her sons, Scott, Kris, and Brent Swenson; her grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Jake, Lauren, Jenna, Andrea, and Adam; and her great-grandchildren, Henry, Emery, and Ashton.
We will forever carry with us the lessons she taught—not only in words but in the example of her strength, compassion, and boundless love. Mom, thank you for everything. We love you, we miss you, and we will honor you always.
A memorial service will be held on September 19th at 11:30 AM at Fort Logan Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
