John Edward Bergren was born July 20, 1926, in Denver Colorado to parents John Eric Bergren and Mary (Peterson) Bergren. He grew up in the Capitol Hill neighborhood with brother Paul and sister Ruth; both have preceded him in death. He attended Dora Moore elementary school, Morey Junior High, and East High School all in Denver. He spent 6 years in Highlander Boys rising to the rank of Platoon Sargent. Just after high school in 1944 he enlisted into the Army Air Corps and served in WWII. Returning from war he went to Colorado A&M college where he met Shirley Foster and they married March 30, 1948. They had three sons Dave, Ron, and Norm. He had many jobs working on a hog ranch for his brother and farms for his father, running the Riverside hotel in Hot Sulphur Springs, owning the Snow King Valley ski resort before joining the Denver Fire Department in 1956 spending most of the time at Stapleton Airport until retiring in 1981 after 25 years. In retirement John and Shirley spent many years traveling in the country in their moto home and spending winters in Port Aransas, Texas. He also loved his mountain property, working his gold mine and maintaining the township of Cardinal outside of Nederland Colorado. He and Shirley were married 73 years before her death in 2021. He was and avid garage saler adding to his collection of treasures while enjoying meeting new people. He lived a full life of 100 years passing September 23,2026 at Spring Ridge Assisted Living. Survived by his sons Dave (Traci) Bergren, Ron (Marlene) Bergren, Norm (Mary) Bergren, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
