Jean Collins Hannes
June 13, 1925 ~ December 10, 2020
Jean Collins Hannes, 95, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 10, 2020 in Littleton, CO from natural causes. For the past four and a half years, she had been residing at Morningstar Senior Living in Littleton.
Jean was born June 13, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Charles Harvey Collins and Frances Matz Collins.
On August 29, 1947 Jean married the love of her life, George John Hannes, with whom she remained united for 68 years until his death in 2016. In 1973, Jean and George moved from Toledo to Denver, Colorado, where he was transferred while working for Johns Manville. Her husband’s business travel gave Jean the opportunity to travel much of the world seeing the Caribbean, Japan, Italy, Finland, and the United Kingdom.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Betty Collins Black.
Jean is survived by her three children – David Hannes (Jeanie), Linda Urbanski, and Cynthia Hannes, three grandchildren – Jennifer Wilhite, Jillian Elliott, and Jayme Finkler (Chris), and six great grandchildren – Ethan Kowalski, Tyler Downing, Charlotte Wilhite, Cooper Wilhite, Nolan Finkler, and Graham Finkler.
Jean was always ready, willing, and able to help her family, friends, and neighbors. She and George organized many memorable parties for neighbors and co-workers. They had a truly wonderful life together.
For many years Jean was a volunteer at Swedish Hospital working in the gift shop and was given a 25-year volunteer appreciation award. She was a long-time bowler in women’s leagues and was an avid mahjong player.
Jean had a legendary sense of humor that endeared her to everyone. Even as Alzheimer’s robbed her of much life has to offer, she was still always able to bring a smile or even a laugh to all around her.
A private graveside service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver. A memorial service will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church in Littleton, Colorado on a date to be determined.
Memorial gifts in Jean’s memory may be made to St. James Presbyterian Church, 3601 W. Belleview Avenue, Littleton, CO 80123.

So sorry to hear about Jeans death. I got to know her at the volunteer group at Swedish. She was always fun to be with. Ruth Cran
