Dawn Marie LaDue Gantzler, born on December 9, 1942, in Watertown, New York and passed away on August 15, 2026 in Lakewood, Colorado. She will be remembered as an outgoing, very capable, hard-working woman. A cancer survivor for five years, she beat the odds and up until a few weeks before her passing, she continued to enjoy her friends and activities at Eaton Senior Communities.

After humble and di􀆏cult beginnings, Dawn’s love of life and passion for adventure were never dulled. She was fortunate to live in several states, as well as Germany, Greece, and Poland, while traveling as a military spouse. She fully embraced the experiences each place brought into her life.

In the early 1980s, Dawn studied to become a radiological technician and went on to work in the field until the late 1990s. She retired early in San Antonio, Texas. In 2017, she moved to Lakewood, Colorado, to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

Dawn is survived by her daughter, Valerie and her husband, Armando; her son, Richard and his wife, Elizabeth; and her two grandchildren, Paige and Scott.
Her zest for life carries on in her children and grandchildren.

  1. GG, (aka Dawn) you will forever and always be in my heart. You weren’t just a babysitter to me and my sister, you were my role model and as we would call it “surrogate grandma”. You had been there and raised me since I was a newborn. You taught me to love and have respect for nature, arts and crafts, and more importantly to embrace who I am. I will always love you lots, and will continue to miss you dearly, rest in peace.
