Dante Lomboy Sanderson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dante Lomboy Sanderson, who passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at the age of 69.

Born in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines, Dante spent his early years working on his grandmother’s farm. On November 1, 1973, he was lovingly adopted by his father, Arnel Sanderson, whose service in the United States Air Force took the family around the world. They lived in Angeles City, Philippines, near Clark Air Base, then in Texas while stationed at Webb Air Force Base, and later at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey, where Dante graduated from high school in 1976. After the family relocated to Salina, Kansas, Dante proudly followed in his father’s footsteps of military service by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.

Dante served honorably in the Marines from 1976 to 1979, attaining the rank of Corporal. During his service as a Mortarman (0341), he earned the Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, and Pistol Marksman Badge. His military service was a source of pride throughout his life.

After completing his military service, Dante worked for May Co. before beginning a career with the United States Postal Service, where he faithfully served for 32 years until his retirement in 2011. Retirement didn’t slow him down. He later worked for CDS at Costco, but his favorite role by far was being “Grandpa.” Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildren.

Dante never met a stranger. He had a remarkable gift for striking up conversations with anyone he met and could make people laugh wherever he went. He was known for his generosity, warm heart, and infectious sense of humor. Whether he was playing poker, shooting hoops, trying his luck with scratch tickets, or simply visiting with friends, he found happiness in being around people. His outgoing personality, quick wit, and stubborn determination made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him.

Dante is survived by his father, Arnel Sanderson; his children, Justin Sanderson (Marie Conigliaro), Ashlie Lytle (Justin Lytle), and Tyler Sanderson; his beloved grandchildren, Greyson Sanderson, Rylie Lytle, and Carter Lytle; and his siblings, Rodolfo Sanderson (Joan Sanderson), Florida Sanderson, and Mark Sanderson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emilia Sanderson.

To his grandchildren, he was so much more than Grandpa. He was a constant source of love, laughter, and encouragement. To his children, he was a devoted father who was always there when they needed him. To everyone fortunate enough to know him, Dante will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, humor, and his unique ability to make everyone feel welcome.

His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his compassion, laughter, and unwavering love for family and friends.
