Jean Eleanor Schmidt

                                    October 14, 1923 ~ October 10, 2025
Jean Eleanor (Doal) Schmidt of Denver, CO passed away peacefully
on October 10, 2025. Born on October 14, 1923 to Paul Edward and
Florence May (Monahan) Doal in Matheson, Ontario, Canada, Jean
was one of 10 children. After graduating from secretarial school, Jean
was employed by Johns-Manville. It was there that she met George
Carl Schmidt, whom she married on August 4, 1950. Together they
moved to New Jersey where they began raising their family of 7
children. In 1973, the family relocated to Denver where Jean and
George spent their golden years. Jean remained a devoted wife to
George until his passing on January 28, 2012.
A loving mother and grandmother, Jean is survived, loved and missed
by all of her children : Maryanne Connolly, Denise (John)
Archambault, George Schmidt, Betty Jean (John) Moffitt, Stephen
Schmidt, Karen (Greg) Hurlbert and Paul Schmidt; her 13
grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Fondly known as Auntie Jean, she cherished her Canadian nieces,
nephews and their families.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Jean lived every day of her 101 years to the fullest. She loved playing
the piano, traveling, playing cards and reading. Visits with family were
her favorite – always welcomed and enjoyed by all. She faced
challenges with grace and strength; she made friends easily and was
always there with a smile, a hug, a peppermint and a little
“comment ça va”.
Cheers, Jean, to a life well spent and the blessing of the memories
created from it.

My wonderful aunt Jean. A happy part of my growing up life in Matheson. Always a smile, a laugh, a great sense of humour. Dressed with interest & style. A great influence on a teenaged niece. We had such a good FaceTime call just before we left for Europe. Precious moments. Love her to bits. Always in my heart. While in Europe we lit a candle for Jean , now with her loving sister Pauline. Sending hugs to the kids. Marion (Barry & family). Love you all.
