James Perry Ellis

October 3, 1938 ~ June 15, 2025
James Perry Ellis known affectionately as “Jim,” “Dad,” “Grandpa,” “Jimbo,” and “Gentleman Jim” by those who knew and loved him.
Born October 3, 1938, in Wyoming Passed away June 15, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s
Jim was the eldest of four children born to Delmar and Ola Ellis. He was raised in Wyoming and graduated from Upton High School in 1957 — a proud member of a graduating class of just twenty students
After high school, he moved to Denver to attend trade school, focusing on electronics. From a young age, Jim demonstrated a strong work ethic, holding early jobs delivering newspapers and working at the local co-op in Upton.
He went on to enjoy a 30-year career with Western Electric, retiring at the age of 55. But retirement never slowed him down. Jim remained active and curious, always keeping busy. He was a devoted college basketball fan — March Madness was sacred, and everything else came second to cheering on his favorite team, Gonzaga. He loved to travel, with Niagara Falls and Alaska standing out as particular highlights, and he could often be found riding his bike or tending to his home and yard in Brighton. A skilled handyman, Jim had a natural talent for fixing just about anything. Jim also had a lifelong interest in real estate, eventually building a home in Brighton, Colorado. He took great pride in both the house and the land.
Above all, Jim was a family man. He is survived by his four daughters, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren — each a source of deep pride and joy throughout his life. Jim’s life was defined by hard work, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to family and home. He will be deeply missed.
