Audrey May Thiessen

Audrey May Harrington Thiessen was born to Harlie Henry Harrington and Bertha Kragesky Harrington on Dec 27, 1928.  She was the 5th of 7 children.  Born at the family farm 6 miles east of Bemidji, Minnesota, Audrey grew up during the Great Depression and learned valuable lessons from her parents about industry and frugality.   She attended a one-room school house, walking 2.5 miles each way whether in the hot weather or the Minnesota cold.

Audrey became a follower of Jesus Christ at the age of 7 when a missionary with the American Sunday School Union came to her area and held a VBS program at her school.  She learned at a young age the value of prayer and took her cares and concerns to God regularly and saw many answers to her prayers which increased her faith.

She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1947, worked at the 1st national bank and attended 1st Baptist Church.  

In 1951 she left her home to attend the Omaha Bible Institute.  She met her future husband Gerald there and they were married on July 25, 1953.

The couple moved to Omaha and Audrey gave birth to her two sons, Wayne Gerald and Daniel James. 

In 1959 Audrey and family moved to the Denver area where she spent the rest of her life.  She had a 25 year career at Sears Roebuck in the catalog department and she enjoyed writing poetry and gospel songs, playing her keyboard and learning oil painting.   She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and served at Tri City Baptist in the nursery, Awana, and as a greeter.   

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Gerald and her son Wayne.   She is survived by her son Daniel, her grandchildren Joshua Thiessen (Rebekah), Hannah Conner and Caleb Thiessen (Jennifer), and eleven great grandchildren, Benjamin, Joseph, Esther, Jacob, and Gideon Thiessen, Emma and Peter Conner, and Annika, Alina, Kiera, and Kaiya Thiessen.

Audrey will be remembered for many things but mostly for her great love for Jesus Christ and her love and service to her family.
