Kevin Eric Sholes, 38, of Bailey, Colorado passed away on April 2nd, 2023. He is
survived by his wife, Vanessa Howe Sholes, his son, Mason, his daughters, Lillian,
Nola, and Amelia, mother, Janene Gatlin Sholes, and sister Kira Sholes Ayers. Kevin
and Vanessa are also expecting a baby due in August.
Kevin was born November 27th, 1984. He came into this world as amazing and as
beautiful as he left it. As a kid, you could find Kevin building skateboard ramps, finding
cool bugs, climbing trees, and tricking out his bike. His light, his radiant energy, his fun-
loving goofiness, and big heart was infectious and only grew bigger as he did on his
journey.
Throughout life, Kevin picked up many trades. He worked in restaurants, sales,
construction, he did electrical work, he was a HVAC technician, and an all around
handyman. While working at Long Technologies Kevin received employee of the year in
2021. He worked hard no matter the job and took such pride in his performance.
Kevin loved cooking, gunsmithing, hiking, being outdoors, spending time with his family,
and riding his motorcycle. He was a damn good cook. He had a passion for creating a
meal that not only filled your belly but fed your soul as well. Kevin taught himself to play
guitar and loved tinkering on cars with his son Mason.
Kevin never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with a tree. For many,
he was the guy you called when you needed help. Whether it was just to talk, or you
needed help with a project, he was your man. He would help you fix what needed fixing
and you would leave with a smile and feeling like the weight of the world was lifted from
your shoulders.
The day Mason was born, Kevin’s purpose in life was clear, to be the best dad he could
be. Each time he welcomed a new baby into the world, you could see the love for them
radiating from his being. He made each of his children feel like they were the most
important person in the room. Kevin worked tirelessly to support his family and nurture
their happiness and wellbeing.
Kevin was a husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, but friend to all. His
jokes and one liners never failed to make a person laugh no matter how many times he
told them. He was as caring and kind to animals as he was to people. Kevin’s passion
for life, his smile, his laughter, his strength, his kind spirit, his bravery, and his devotion
to his family and friends will be forever remembered.
Dear Lord Baby Jesus, please take care of our bad@$$ motherf%!$er. Amen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Shaggy Sheep Cook House in Grant, CO on
June 24 th , 2023 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been set up to
support Kevin’s wife and children. https://gofund.me/0ff80d3a

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I only met Kevin once when he was very little. Reading this it reminds me of his mom. In my heart, he had to be a good person, because He came from one of the best families I've known. My love and condolences to you all.

  2. I'm still in shock my beautiful man. I have so many memories of you that I will carry with me forever. "I hope you had the time of your life" I will never forget the night you played the guitar for your sister's graduation and sang that song for her. We are praying for your entire family and friends 🙏 Your mother was so proud of you Kevin. Fly high my beautiful Kevin. #foreveryoung 💔

  3. I am extremely saddened to hear the news of Kevins passing. I knew Kevin when he was a youngster. I will not ever forget that little boy smile and the brilliance of his blue eyes.
Kevins nature was spontaneous and he was such a very happy, and caring boy. From what I have learned over the years this little boy Kevin, grew up to be a wonderful husband and loving father to his children.
Our fondness of memories forever. Rest In Peace Dearest Kevin️
My deepest sympathies to (Kevin)s loved ones and family.
