Elaine was born in Aurora, Nebraska and grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she studied secretarial skills in business school.

In 1973 she moved to Englewood, Colorado where she met and married Lawrence L. Laughlin on June 15, 1938. During WWII she lived in San Diego, California while her husband served in the Pacific, and she worked at Consolidated Aircraft.

Returning to Englewood after the war she was an active member of St. Louis Church, raised her family, and volunteered doing various jobs for the church and the Englewood schools. She took any opportunity to help individuals who needed rides, needed help with writing projects, or just need someone with whom to talk.

After the death of her first husband she met and married William C. Cline on November 29, 1968. They continued to attend St. Louis Church and Elaine was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus.

Elaine had several jobs including working for an Arapahoe County judge. It was through that job that she met her second husband. The job she loved the most was working at Fort Logan Mental Health Center first as a clerk on the Children's Unit and rising to be the Administrative Assistant to the Deputy Director of the facility.

Family was vitally important to her. She also loved her friends and kept many long time ones while making many more. She enjoyed travel, bridge, bowling, crocheting, and exercise. At Christmas time she was famous for her mint fudge and decorated sugar cookies.

After the death of her second husband in 1984, she maintained close ties with family and friends. She was appreciated by all who knew her for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her generosity.

In 2005, at the age of 88, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to help her daughter Lynn care for her ailing husband. After his death, Elaine wanted to return to Colorado. She moved back to Colorado, settling in Centennial with Lynn and became a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.

She reached her 100th, birthday last February. Until the time of her death she maintained good humor and kindness.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Lynn Laughlin and Jean Martin, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchilren, and 2 women, Elizabeth Mabry and Shari Hamlin, who are as close as daughters. Also surviving is a dear nephew, Stan Boostrom. She leaves behind a dear friend of 79 years, Vera Aitken, and friends at Orchard Park Health Care Center.

She will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 7th, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Graveside services will be private.
